Letter from the President
Change is inevitable - except from a vending machine. Robert C. Gallagher
For example, our e-commerce site, The Webstaurant Store, has continued to prosper. Its sales have increased nearly 300% since last year. As a result, we’ve expanded our Customer Service hours to 8 p.m. EST to better serve you. Additionally, we redesigned the site last summer to adequately handle the increased traffic volumes, paying particular attention to user-friendliness.
Expansion also characterizes our inventory, as we continue to add new products and vendors. We acquired a second warehouse last fall, so we now have an additional 94,000 square feet of space for inventory and distribution. We currently house over 11,000 items in 140,000 square feet of warehouse space. We’ve taken a more active role in our employees’ health and wellness by hosting our first company-wide wellness fair. We continue to field several intercompany soccer teams to encourage fitness and teamwork. Happy and healthy employees are able to serve you even better. Despite all these changes, our greatest asset remains our employees. We’ve recently expanded our Internship Program. Last summer we employed 12 sharp high school and college students. Their hard work in our Accounting, IT, Marketing, Web/Customer Service, and Purchasing departments allows us to maintain our high standards of service. We’re always looking for intelligent and hard-working individuals to add to our team. Although our company continues to grow, our core values remain unchanged—serving you, the customer, to the best of our ability.
