Job Title: Category Manager

Clark Associates, Inc is the fastest growing distributor of foodservice, hospitality and janitorial supplies in the country.  Products are sold through three channels of distribution, including, The Restaurant Stores, and Clark Food Service Equipment. The procurement department is responsible for managing the 225,000+ items available to those channels.   Our approach to business is how well we can service the customer. How do we do it? We work tirelessly to offer the broadest and best assortment of product, the best price and value, and to always be in stock. 

We are currently looking for a Category Manager to join our team, based in Lancaster, PA. Reporting to senior management, this position focuses on category development, including product sourcing, analyzing global and seasonal trends, research new developments within your category, and product pricing. As a category manager you will act as a “business owner” for your category you must have a complete understanding of all variables impacting your business.  You will be responsible for revenue and Gross Profit growth within your category.  You must be able to strategize between multiple buyers or vendor managers to arrive at the most profitable decisions regarding your category.

Before becoming a full Category Manager, a thorough understanding of procurement functions is necessary; the initial training period for this role lasts up to 1 year and maybe longer. The ideal candidate will be skilled in analyzing data, managing a changing workload, communicating effectively, establishing creative ways to market items, and problem-solving in a fast paced changing environment.  You must make your business grow!
