We distribute over 150,000 products nationally through three main channels of distribution. We are looking for an ambitious and creative leader to join our team as a Vendor Manager. Reporting to senior level procurement staff and CEO of the Company, this position offers an unparalleled degree of control over the entire lifecycle of a product line. A successful Vendor Manager will champion a product vision, strategy and roadmap for a product line that will maximize profitability and growth potential. Additionally they will have the ability to identify opportunities within existing and new vendor product offerings that will have an immediate impact to category sales.
As a Vendor manager you will be responsible for managing the day to day relationship and activity between existing vendors and new vendors. You will be responsible for developing new products and improving existing products within the vendors you manage. Through market and product research you will be tasked with identifying potential products, determining product requirements and specifications, and establishing ordering and marketing timetables. Your goal is to build market share in your product categories by buying well, implementing effective marketing strategies and effectively managing vendor relationships. The training period for this job is at least 1 year. You will spend your first year in a Buyer role. This position requires someone who is creative, decisive, and very attentive to details and product specifications.
Negotiate buying contracts with new and existing vendors
Facilitate optimal inventory turnover and product availability by reviewing and adjusting inventory levels
Research and source products from new and existing vendors
Manage and initiate all marketing activities involving the vendors you manage
Effectively streamline logistics decisions regarding your vendors
