An Operations Professional handles all aspects of material handling each day. Typically, an Operations Team member should be someone who enjoys repetitious work tasks and likes hands-on work. Although an Operations Team member is not required to fill a sales function in the building (they don’t run the registers or load merchandise in vehicles), they are responsible to practice good customer service by helping customers find items in the store. An Operations Team member is not required to act as a Sales professional and should find a member of the sales staff to meet the customer’s needs if required. Operations Team member report to the senior merchant in the building (Merchandise Manager or Merchandise Specialist). Stock associates typically don’t perform tasks like hanging signs or performing counts but may be asked to do more depending on volume of work. Operations Team members are there specifically to make the store presentable and easily shop-able for our customers.
Receive all inbound merchandise daily and stock merchandise onto sales floor
Down stock reserve merchandise to selling areas
Front and face merchandise to provide a “grand opening” appearance every day
Follow priority list
Execute operational tasks given by management
Provide excellent customer service when needed without entering sales advisory conversations
Keep work areas neat and clean
Perform general cleaning tasks such as sweeping or mopping the sales floor and taking out trash and cardboard
May be asked to operate a forklift
Basic knowledge of business model
