The Manager of Training and Development is responsible for managing all aspects of the training and development of the hourly associates for the inbound and outbound departments throughout the multi-shift operation, therefore must be willing to work off-shifts as necessary. The Manager of Training and Development will have extensive knowledge in product information, standard operating procedures, and other expectations assigned by their manager to drive the areas of improvement that will be established by operations management team. Constant communication with the General Manager and Operations Managers to evaluate the scope and effectiveness of key areas of training will be required.

The Manager of Training and Development should be able to work as part of the distribution center leadership team cohesively. The occupant of this position should be able to design training programs that target areas of improvement, with a focus on production roles and key skills used throughout the warehouse. The Manager of Training and Development will be required to provide exemplary support to all operational departments as necessary to meet distribution center goals. The Manager of Training and Development will routinely meet with the leadership personnel from all functional areas of the distribution center, including Employee Experience, Facilities, General Manager Inbound/Outbound Operations Managers, and Safety.

Enforcement of all company policies and standards, fair and proper treatment of all employees/situations will be required



  • Develop and implement in-depth new hire training programs for inbound and outbound employees in coordination with the department leadership
  • Develop and manage a team of training specialist across a multi-shift operation
  • Communicate training opportunities and strategies to appropriate management
  •  Develop and maintain positions, projects, and reports to sustain and increase efficiency of warehouse operations
  • Incorporate broad operations awareness into training programs so employees understand their relationship to other positions inside the distribution center
  • Create and maintain training manuals for key hourly operational roles
  • Design sustainment training material and schedules for all hourly roles
  • Facilitate monthly roundtable discussion with operations leadership to assess impact of training
  • Coordinate with operations leadership to set and evaluate monthly initiatives regarding development of hourly roles
  • Coordinate with the Inventory Control Manager and the OSS team to identify trends for targeted training, process improvement, and standardization of operations
  • Conduct targeted training events with relevant teams on an as needed or quarterly basis
  • Facilitate the ongoing development of warehouse employees by mentoring employees before and after internal interviews conducted through the internal bid process



  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a distribution environment; receiving and/or inventory experience preferred
  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Proficiency with MS Office required (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 10 hours/day
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing
  • Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
  • Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching
  • Requires the ability to regularly lift / carry 50-75lbs. and push / pull up to 150lbs.



While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Occasional activities may involve exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal.
