The Common Carrier Team Leader is responsible for ensuring orders are being prepared for shipping at the highest desired level in which the WebstaurantStore requires. He/she should be in constant communication with the Manager on duty. He/she should have knowledge in product information, warehouse procedures, and other expectations assigned by the manager. The Common Carrier Team Leader should be able to accurately create Bill of Ladings while verifying out orders in DMS. He/she will also be responsible for maintaining contact with the appropriate carriers and WebstaurantStore representatives. The Common Carrier Team Leader will hold themselves to the highest company standards and should be in good standing in safety, attendance, and all other WebstaurantStore policies.



  • Lead assigned team to ensure duties are completed efficiently and effectively
  • Printing and billing of Common Carrier orders
  • Maintain professional working relationships with all employees to maximize efficiency and support the company culture
  • Enforce company policies and standards
  • Daily coordination with shipping management to ensure efficient flow of products through commons area, and proper prioritization for expedited shipments and platinum/plus customers
  • Challenge the team to meet and exceed company metrics
  • Maintain contact with various carriers regarding discrepancies and pick ups
  • Pursue daily and weekly team goals as set by the Shipping Manager
  • Facilitate training for new common carrier material handlers
  • Communicate concerns to shipping management and facilitate their resolution
  • In coordination with the Warehouse Trainer, follow up with team members to review errors and provide corrective training
  • Conduct visual checks on all orders once QA and strapping has been completed, ensuring all hardware, sleeves, etcetera have been included
  • Uphold and promote company culture in cooperation with the Shipping Manager to ensure that the team achieves the highest standard of performance and conduct
  • Regular and predictable on-site attendance
  • Can be responsible for writing and administering corrective action
  • Responsible for writing thorough, honest reviews and providing constructive criticism through crucial confrontations
  • Any other duties deemed necessary and assigned by the shipping manager



  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a distribution environment; receiving and/or inventory experience preferred
  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience



  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to quickly adapt as business needs change; ability to address difficult situations with diplomacy and emotional intelligence
  • Communicate any issues with processes, workflows, or other duties to management
  • Customer service-oriented attitude with a demonstrated desire to exceed expectations
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Must be proficient in collecting, organizing, and processing data on a personal computer and/or hand-held device
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Google Docs



  • Must be able push and pull up to 150lbs
  • Must be comfortable with heights up to 30ft.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 to 75lbs
  • Must be able to constantly bend, squat, reach, climb, and stand throughout shift
  • Must be able to work in a variety of temperatures in the facility



While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Occasional activities may involve exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal.

Shift: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
